(Mission 3)
Sequence 3 A (If Mission is won)

EXT. PATH
One of the war dogs trots along a path. It happily carries something in its mouth.

In fact, it carries a severed arm. It drops the arm, pants, and wags its tail.

Sequence 3 B (If Mission is lost)

EXT. LANDING FIELD - NIGHT

A figure, chased by dogs, makes a run for an Allied helicopter and boards it.

Several Soviet soldiers shoot at the aircraft as it takes off. The dogs leap after the chopper in vain.

CUT TO:
Sequence 4 (Missions 4A and 4B)

INT. NADIA’S OFFICE
Nadia sits behind a desk. She indicates folders on her desk. She motions the PLAYER’S POV to sit across from her.

NADIA
Good work destroying that spy. You please Stalin. Do not disappoint him.
Now, I have a special task for you. The details are in here.

She passes a folder across the desk. A pair of gloved hands opens it and looks at several pictures and maps as Nadia continues.

NADIA (cont.)
I want you to create a diversion outside Gdansk. Launch some V2s to confuse them. Give us time to drop our commandos behind their lines. Once there, cut off all communications so we can strike without warning.

She indicates the door, and motions for the PLAYER’S POV to exit.

PLAYER’S POV stands and moves to the door walks down a hall.

Gradenko steps out of an office and motions the player to follow him inside. He seems nervous.

GRADENKO
Your trust is misplaced, comrade. Launching rockets will provide a fireworks show, nothing else. (pause) Our armored divisions are massing on the eastern bank of the Oder. We cannot advance until you take out an Allied fortification at the top of the hill outside Bialystock. It’s up to you.

He exits.

CUT TO:
The PLAYER’S POV confronts a map with two arrows. One points to Gdansk, one to Bialystock.

As the PLAYER’S POV passes over each arrow respectively, voices echo.

NADIA (VO)
“...believes you can be trusted...”

Or...

GRADENKO (VO)
“It’s up to you.”

CUT TO:
(Mission 4A)

Or...

(Mission 4B)

Sequence 4A -1 (If Mission 4A is won)

EXT. FOREST
Soviet tanks and missile launchers pour through the woods.

Sequence 4A -2 (If Mission 4A is lost)

EXT. FOREST
Allied tanks and missile launchers pour through the woods.

Sequence 4B -1 (If Mission 4B is won)

EXT. FLAG POLE
A giant red banner with a picture of Stalin ascends.

Sequence 4B - 2 (If Mission 4B is lost)

EXT. FLAG POLE
A giant red banner with a picture of Stalin burns.

Sequence 5 (Mission 5)

INT. SOVIET HQ
Stalin puffs on his pipe, leaning back in his chair. He and the player speak over steaming cups of very black Russian coffee.

STALIN
When you kill one, it is a tragedy.
When you kill 10 million, it is a statistic.

Stalin offers a relaxed smile to the PLAYER’S POV. He continues his oration.

STALIN (cont.)
They call me a killer, but the people’s history will judge me.

Nadia sits by Stalin’s side at the conference table.

The PLAYER’S POV glances over to spy Kane standing in the shadows.

Nadia places her hand on Stalin’s arm, speaking to the PLAYER’S POV.

NADIA
The capitalist press calls Comrade Stalin a war-monger because we take back Poland, Italy, Latvia, Estonia, Greece...Our vision frightens them.

STALIN
A unified Russia is our destiny. Those lands were thrown away by corrupt czarist diplomats and criminal military officers.

NADIA
Then the press invents lies...imagining Comrade Stalin would kill a million Russian officers. The fools...

Kane holds up one hand, shaking his head slightly.

Nadia falls silent.

STALIN
They were enemies of the state. I live only to serve the my people.

Nadia speaks to the PLAYER’S POV -- her attention turning to Kane occasionally.

NADIA (nervous)
But perhaps we should get down to business?

CUT TO:
Kukov enters and whispers something to Nadia. They both look at the PLAYER’S POV.

Nadia nods, Kukov speaks.

KUKOV
Come with me.

They exit.

CUT TO:
EXT. BASE - NIGHT

It rains. The PLAYER’S POV stands in the shadows with Kukov.

KUKOV
Witness this. Do nothing and keep quiet.

A figure hurries through the shadows. Gradenko stops under a light and looks around.

Kukov looks one more time at the PLAYER’S POV and moves toward Gradenko.

GRADENKO
Comrade Kukov? Were you followed?

KUKOV
I came alone as you requested. What is this about?

GRADENKO
Stalin must be stopped. Are you with or against your fellow officers?

KUKOV
I said I would listen.

GRADENKO
Read these documents. Then destroy them.

Kukov scans the papers handed to him. He reacts with somber concern.

KUKOV
Is he really creating this bomb?

GRADENKO
More powerful than any weapon ever known. It will destroy the Earth unless we destroy him first.

Kukov unfolds more of the papers. He shows the top page to PLAYER’S POV.

C/U - TOP SECRET MEMO
CUT TO:
INT. SOVIET HQ
C/U - TOP SECRET MEMO

Nadia examines the same page.

Nadia examines more of the papers, while Kukov watches.

NADIA
He said nothing else?

Kukov indicates no and motions to the PLAYER’S POV.

KUKOV (cont.)
And the commander here witnessed it all.

NADIA
You’ve done well, Comrade Kukov. You see why Comrade Stalin removed so many of his generals.

Nadia picks up the phone and makes a call. She waits a moment, then speaks.

NADIA
Comrade Stalin? It’s more than an assassination plot. Gradenko stole the bomb plans and has documents detailing the Iron Curtain device. (pause) I have papers on it here. I assigned no one yet. I will take care of it immediately. He’s here now.

She hangs up the phone.

NADIA
Comrade Kukov. Comrade Stalin will see you now.

Kukov clicks his heels and exits. Nadia turns to the PLAYER’S POV.

NADIA
We will rely on your discretion. (pause) As a reward for your service to the people, Comrade Stalin wishes to promote you. Your first order as a Field Captain is to proceed to Kirov Island. We need minerals there for a special project. Plus, we need to capture the Allied communications center.

Nadia indicates points on a map.

NADIA (cont.)
Build a base here before you cross to the island. Be prepared to build a second defense there, if necessary. Do what you must for the people.

(MISSION 5)
Sequence 5A (If Mission 5 is won)

EXT. TOWN
Soviet tanks, troops, missiles and banners parade through a city. As the columns pass a brick building, soldiers tear down hand-made banners flashing the “V” for victory sign.

Underneath these banners sit red and black painted images of scorpion tails. The soldiers take no notice.

Sequence 5B (If Mission 5 is lost)
EXT. FIELD - MORNING

Grass and flowers stretch toward the sun.

Nearby, two bodies hang at impossible angles out of a scorched Red tank.

On the bicep of one dead soldier’s exposed arm, there sits a red and black tattoo of a scorpion’s tail.

Notes: Gradenko is more traitor than bumbling idiot in this version of the script, and has plans for the nuclear weapons that Stalin is creating.

It seems weird that they would be so on the nose about the Brotherhood of NOD, and I really appreciate the fact that they kept that under wraps until the end in the game.
